One of your good bets for finding cheap framed art is in a batch of clearance items. Sometimes these clearance items are accompanied by a reduced or free shipping deal, if you purchase a certain amount of merchandise ($12.99 at the time of this writing). Why are these items reduced? Framed art can enter this category in a number of ways. Returned prints that are in their original excellent condition, art that the merchant was able to buy inexpensively in quantity, items that are not selling well, and overstocking are a few of the ways that art pieces find their way to the clearance bin. The next strategy is finding the piece of art you want at the price you want. This may take some patience. Many art outlets on the Internet offer periodic sales on all of their merchandise. The trick is to catch these sales. One way to catch the sales is to adopt what we might call the Hallmark alerts. You can pretty well put on the calendar days for which Hallmark has special greeting cards. Usually there are art sales leading up to these same days. Some of them are Christmas, Valentines, Mothers Day, Father Day, graduation, and more. There are sales at other non-Hallmark-alert times as well. For these you have to be vigilant. Then check back every so often at the top of the page at Art.com. At the time of this writing, which was not near one of those Hallmark alert dates, there was a 15% off everything. When you find a sale to your liking, enter the item number(s) into the Art.com search box to find your previously identified prints.
