I was visiting the Korea National Museum in Seoul with my the grandparents of my son's then fiance. On the third floor we were in a room displaying various faces of buddha through the ages. Speaking in Japanese, since that is the only language we understand in common, the 80-something grandfather said to me: "Notice these buddha's have a small mouth and large ears? That signifies the proportion of listening to talking that we should do." It was not the first time that he had said something profound to me.
