I spent my childhood in Japan. During my elementary school years, we got a pendulum clock that would chime on the hour. When we returned permanently to the U.S., it "lived" in my parents' home in Seattle until they both died. Now one of my siblings has it. It has its own distinct chiming sound and brings back pleasant memories of years gone by.
